It isn't like this thing includes knowledge of a person's choice in drinks or even what they're really like, but then, she supposes it doesn't hurt as some sort of introduction? What is an alchemist that you would note this and deem nothing else of import for strangers?

[Ed's not much of a fan of text, but business is business and if this person is asking about alchemy - well, in his mind that was business, nothing more.]

Alchemists transform or create by reconstructing matter. If you have something you need fixed I can do that for you. If you need something put together I just need the base elements or parts of whatever you want made.

Transmutation, then. That doesn't sound wholly unfamiliar. May I ask for some examples of things you might transmute?

Her own work in transmutation has revolved wholly around discerning the properties of naturally occurring items and combining said items to create potions that bestow specific effects. This sounds similar, but possibly different and if she held the screen any closer to her face, she might be well on the way to a headache for her utilization of the text-to-audio and audio-to-text features. ]

I can transmute just about anything. Most people request clothes or weapons for repairs.

[He's confused about why she's so curious, most people just ask for their things to be repaired and move on, happy for the convenience. It's almost suspicious that she's asking so many questions, but Ed certainly doesn't mind talking alchemy as long as it isn't to a skeptic.]

I see. I do apologize for the myriad of questions. Transmutation is not so common in my own world. I myself am attempting to pioneer a form of it in producing potions given to varying effects. That you can produce clothes and perform weapon repairs through transmutation is more than I myself had considered. Truly amazing!

What sort of weapons do you repair?

Don't worry, I'm used to it. Alchemy is pretty unheard of to a lot of people. Or what they know it as isn't really what I do.

[At the mention of potions he's pretty sure already that he's dealing with the latter, but he's gotten pretty used to all of that at this point.]

Honestly, I can repair anything with the right parts. I can't fix magical properties, but if a sword is broken I can put it back together no problem. If anything is missing I just need something to replace it with,
using the sword example some scrap steel should work.

I wonder how different our work is? I suppose by the very nature of our product, it would be on some level.

I do have a dagger I acquired at the market that hasn't managed to hold. It would do well for a purpose different than I had intended if it can be repaired. Something about the density in the crafting means I'm having to take greater care in handling of things, it seems.

Well, I don't work in potions.

[He's honestly not sure how to answer that and he doesn't want to come off as awkward as he feels about it. Potions, witch craft, magic - what others call alchemy was so alien to him, he couldn't possibly think to compare it, especially with no first hand knowledge of her craft.]

I'd be happy to take a look at it, I can't promise anything until I know what I'm dealing with though. I don't have a shop yet or anything,
but I could meet you at the communal housing building.

That does sound agreeable. I am assisting in efforts to resolve the temporal issues that have arisen from the chalice's presence in the portal, so my availability is somewhat sporadic. I suppose you could say I am... on call? I think that would be the proper terminology.

Whenever you're free, it seems important to get that all sorted out first, at least.

Then we can compare techniques.
